Boost Your Relationship Intelligence Factor: Try These 9 Easy Ways To Flirt
Posted on 1 commentMaybe youâve forgotten how to flirt if youâve been married for several years or youâre a bit rusty if you havenât dated for a while. Flirting is fun and powerful when you are in a relationship or looking to be in one. In celebration of Valentineâs month here are 9 simple ways to offer up some flirting. Try one or all of these tips. Most importantly, remember to have fun doing it!
1. Have a neat appearance- We donât have to be supermodels to be attractive. Showered, neat clothing, nice subtle aroma and a little makeup to play up your best features go a long way. Wear a simple outfit, but dress it up with some accessories. For a guide to choosing the right fragrance for you click here. http://makeup.ygoy.com/fashion/index.php
2. Smile- A fast way to show you like someone and that youâre friendly. It also shows confidence and who doesnât like that!?
3. Eye contact-You can make a strong connection with someone by showing them they have your full attention. Good eye contact conveys interest in another person and that helps the other person to feel important and liked. That means theyâre more likely to like you back! Periodically breaking eye contact is good and will keep the conversation from becoming too intense.
4. Say the personâs name- The sweetest word a person can hear. Donât you immediately pay attention when you hear someone say your name? Experts say we need to say a personâs name 3 times when meeting them in order to remember it. Even if youâre flirting with your husband you can use his name in a way that gets his attention. For those of us in long term relationships, saying our partnerâs actual name is rare since we so often use pet names like honey, babe, etc.
5. Listen- Show genuine interest in what the other person is saying. Ask a couple of follow up questions to show you are listening. Think about when you can tell a person is listening to you and model some of these actions (e.g. eye contact, nodding your head, saying âhmmâ, etc).
6. Relax and enjoy yourself- Be yourself. Donât try to act like someone else. Relax and make a decision to let your âto-doâ list go for a little while to spend some quality flirting time with someone. Remember that this is flirting and should be fun. Itâs not a mission to accomplish something by midnight. Just make a conscious decision to relax and focus on the moment.
7. Have something to say- Keep up to date with news, music, movies, etc. – whatever is of interest to you and use it as easy conversation. It is a great way to open things up for more intimate talk and a build a base for understanding, interest and similarity. While there is a lot of information available that says that opposites attract, there is also much solid research that says we tend to like those who are similar to us. Build a common base to âlaunchâ from. (I had to throw that one in!)
8. Compliments- As you are talking with your partner, date, or stranger take notice of something that you like about his appearance or his personality and tell him. It feels great to compliment others. Try it on a friend first for practice. Are you shy about giving compliments? Just be honest about something you like about the other person and say it. Itâs not rocket scienceâ¦just do it already.
9. Touch- Flirtatious touch is subtle and can be a simple touch on the hand or shoulder. When you meet someone youâre attracted to shake their hand and offer the other hand with a gentle touch on the top of their hand. During conversation, touch your husbandâs leg or neck lightly with direct eye contact but make it as natural as possible. This takes practice if you havenât been doing for a while so be patient with yourself and donât give up if you donât get a positive response right away.
You will notice that you donât have to engage in tasteless techniques to let someone know that you like them. You know, like slowly running your tongue over your top lip! Flirting is a much more natural part of who we are and can be very genuine. It can feel strange in the beginning, but after a few times it will start to feel more natural.
Start with a few of these techniques and have fun!
